I am a Professor of Economics at the Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia. I am also a part-time professor at the Department of Economics of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). I currently serve as co-director of the Political Economy Network of LACEA and RIDGE. I am a JPAL affiliate, a Research Associate at the NBER, an honorary member of LACEA, and a fellow of the Econometric Society I currently serve as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Development Economics, and World Bank Economic Review. My academic research focuses on economic development, political economy, and public economics. In particular, I study governance and accountability in developing countries and the consequences for politics and public service delivery. My research is available here:
